Why do you like textboards?

What's that you find attractive in here?

2

Anonymous:

Simplicity. No lust provocation. Shit gets done.

3

I'm only here because no CAPTCHA.
This is also the only textboard I use.
I'm still practically a newfag to the internets.

I agree with what have been said above, but want to mention a detail that is usually overlooked.

Futaba-style thread structure with posts numerated globally within a board rather than within a thread is disorganized and unreasonable.

2channel-style in-thread numeration makes more sense and is more intuitive and convenient to navigate. Also, I like it when it's possible to open a post separately and read/communicate it without any distraction.

textboard posters are all poorly-groomed sad old men, they cannot be cute.

I agree that this kind of numbering is preferable to a simple auto increment pk.

I wish textboards were more popular in the west, so I applaud the creation of the site. It is especially based that it uses its own script as opposed to setting up vichan with a theme or 0ch.

I like them because I've been posting on them since the early 2000s.

They originally began as a useful way to communicate with a lot of people when they were in their heyday. Think 4-ch where you could actually go and have an okay discussion about a sport or genre of music. Eventually, they got a bit more niche but not in a bad way, more in a comfy way where different small communities of people could connect through a topic. Imageboards kind of sucked a lot of the userbase away, especially when 4chan became extremely mainstream and "the" place to be.

Now, they've mostly fallen out of favour but there are still a few out there where you can go to hang out. It's like...a quiet, cozy bar or tea house that only a few people know about and the only people there are both strangers and companions to each other at the same time, all there to kick their feet up and take it easy. Like the anime Bartender where you don't know such a place exists until you wander down that alleyway and open the door (aka click a link on an obscure textboard, that brings you to an even more obscure textboard) but once you go in, you feel happy.

I love to read more than anything else, I think.
I always find it easier to get to the bottom of something, whether a story or an internet post, if it's in text.

Couldn't the same effect apply to an imageboard?
Most stories take the form of text there rather than in a video or image.
Though I suppose images may be distracting at points.

22

I just want my posts not to be deleted after posting. Is that too much to asK?

>Though I suppose images may be distracting at points.
This and also imageboard posts tend to form symbiosis of image and text, which usually lowers text quality.

24

Anonymous:

because no lust provocative images and irrelevant posts in here
no captcha as a plus point

cause they are awesome.

It doesn't attract that many autistic teens like 4chan for example.

29

Anonymous:

No irritating image embeds
Threads stick around for a long time
no other kind of gamification (karma, postcounts, etc)
Smarter posters / less kids
Fairly slow, makes it easy to keep up with discussions
Sage / nobump feature
