I occasionally get/create interesting tasks for myself at my job. However, if there's no need to earn for living, I would do only interesting stuff like I do for my hobby projects.
Besides money, the only beneficial thing of jobs I could think of is discovery of new stuff. But, well, you can collaborate on opensource projects if you need rapid discovery of stuff.
